Description
I worked as a ranger for Scottish Wildlife Trust a few years ago, living and working on Handa Island in Sutherland. Studying seabirds was a large part of my job and watching guillemots being reared from egg to jumpling was incredible. These chicks would sometimes jump 100 metres from the ledge they hatched on into the sea and some seemed to be quite scared of the prospect. The story only came to fruition though when I took a short career break from my ranger job to complete an art course in Ullapool in March 2016 and as a result Gilby hatched and I self-published The Guillemot Who Wouldn’t Jump.
